  5. Dirty Money Moves: Women in White Collar Crime

Dirty Money Moves: Women in White Collar Crime

Dirty Money Moves: Women in White Collar Crime dives deep into cases involving a more rare type of criminal, women who commit financial crimes. Scamming and financial crimes are usually a man’s game, but women dabble in it too. In Season Three of Dirty Money Moves, host, Jami Rice of MURDERISH, the podcast, takes listeners along as she investigates Tracii Hutsona, a self-described “winner” who appeared to have it all: successful businesses, multimillion dollar mansions, luxury cars, and the cash to spend on high-end jewelry and vacations. She claimed to have had a lengthy acting and modeling career, one that saw her on the cover of several major magazines, including Italian Vogue. She even claimed to have romantic ties to Keanu Reeves. But not much about Tracii seems to be real, except maybe her abilities as a con artist. Most recently, she made headlines for embezzling more than $1 million from Joumana Kidd, actress and ex wife of NBA star Jason Kidd, via Tracii’s luxury concierge business. Then, Tracii opened a restaurant in San Diego, fittingly called “Breakfast Bitch,” which was funded, in part, by Joumana’s money. These recent crimes may have garnered all the media attention, but they are by no means Tracii’s first run-ins with the law. She’s had a long history of schemes, going back 30 years. Yet, the most shocking thing about Tracii isn't the dollar amount she’s managed to steal over the years, but the way in which she victimizes the people closest to her, over and over again. This is the story of an extremely charismatic woman who can manipulate even the most savvy person into believing exactly what she needs them to, all in the pursuit of a lifestyle of luxury, glamour, and self-indulgence.

Dragged to the center of a wasteland by a ruthless malevolence, the legendary warrior discovers a cavern filled with devious riddles and fiendish traps. Upon solving the labyrinth, he is confronted by a hideous creature. A beast with unimaginable abilities. A being of unspeakable evil… DEATH. Without a shred of clemency, the demigod presents Vant with a choice: do his sinister bidding out in the world, or suffer an eternity of horrifying torment. Thus begins Vant’s quest out of the badlands, through the hostile wilderness, into the clutches of twisted townships, and finally toward conflict with the vile stewards of a corrupted civilization. But Vant will not go it alone. In the midst of his journey, he develops an unlikely companionship with a clever and venturesome teenage girl, the expert survivalist Skii Tavee. They also form an alliance with two newfound—but questionable—companions: Kram Grammie, the sneaky con man who is as crafty as he is klepto, and an off-kilter eccentric bizarrely known as The World’s Worst Magician. United, they set out to dispatch their foes, rescue the innocents caught in the crossfire, and unite the forces of a world gone astray, all while reconciling with their own haunting pasts. Mortal Enemy is an experience like no other. It is a relentless whirlwind of action and adventure. A tale of conflicted heroes and dastardly villains. A story rich with darkness and struggle, yet filled with devilishly wicked humor. It is jam-packed with nightmarish scenarios, fantastical environments, rich mythology, incredible weapons, unique technologies, and characters dripping with personality… with shocking surprises awaiting you at every turn. Come experience Death… if you dare.

  2. The Asset

    The Asset

In 2016, Donald Trump conspired with a foreign government to become President of the United States. On July 25, 2019, with the 2020 election around the corner, he decided to do it again. The first time around, it was collusion, aiding and abetting Russia’s attack on American democracy. The second time, it was extortion, demanding the Ukrainian government manufacture dirt on Trump’s political opponents in exchange for help the country needs to fend off a Russian invasion and chart a democratic future free of Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin.  To make sense of these recent events that have rocked American politics and led to very real concerns that the President of the United States may be a Russian asset, we need to dig a little deeper. In Season 1, The Asset dives into Trump’s decades-long history with Russia, from his extensive business dealings with Russian oligarchs to his presidential campaign and the investigations that have sent some of his closest associates to prison. In Season 2, The Asset explores the backstory to Trump’s infamous phone call with the newly-elected Ukrainian President, where he demanded an investigation into a political opponent and set off a series of events leading to the impeachment inquiry.Hosted by Max Bergmann, a senior fellow and director of the Moscow Project at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, and featuring expert guests, The Asset will put together the pieces of Trump’s relationship with Russia and Ukrainian extortion campaign. The Asset is a partnership between the Center for American Progress Action Fund, District Productive, and Protect the Investigation. It is produced by Paul Woodhull, a 20-year veteran media executive and president of Build Better Media, and Peter Ogburn, the executive producer of the Bill Press Show.

  3. Literacy Legacy : Training for Instructors

Literacy Legacy : Training for Instructors

The adult literacy sector has been developed over the years through the work of many dedicated, long-term literacy workers who have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. We in the adult literacy field, like many sectors, experienced a notable increase in staff turnover during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused many experienced instructors to reflect on their personal and professional lives and for some, it accelerated their plans to retire. As these literacy specialists retire and exit the field, their wealth of knowledge and experience is at risk of being lost. Associated with this loss is the need for responsive training and mentorship programs for new and upcoming practitioners. To partially address this need, MTML has produced a series of 20 podcasts designed to capture the valuable insights and experiences of seasoned professionals. Welcome to The Literacy Legacy Project. Together, we’re excited to bring you a series of podcasts, dedicated to guiding and inspiring those just starting out in the world of literacy instruction. In each episode, we’ll hear from literacy experts who have spent decades in the field, including some who have retired but continue to share their insights and experiences. From effective teaching techniques to building meaningful connections with learners, they will share practical advice, real-world examples, and proven best practices to help you navigate your journey as a literacy instructor. Join us as we honour the legacy of those who have dedicated their lives to literacy. Tune in and learn from the best!” This project has been made possible with funding from the Peter Gzowski Foundation. The Peter Gzowski Foundation for Literacy is a national body that stewards an endowment dedicated to promoting literacy awareness and supporting adult literacy programming across Canada.
